                As a kind of clean and renewable energy, wind energy is attracting more and more attention worldwide. The reserve is enormous and the total quantity of resources is around 2.74×109 MW while 2×107 MW is exploitable. In China, wind energy reserve is also huge and widely spread; on land alone, the wind energy reserve is about 2.53×109 KW with great developing and exploiting potential.
                  Following the economic development around the globe, the wind energy market also advances rapidly. In 2007, the total installed capacity of wind power is 9×104 MW; in 2008, the wind power generation increased by 28.8% and by the end of the same year, the total installed capacity in this regard exceeded 1.208×105 MW, equivalent to the carbon dioxide discharge reduction of 1.58×108 tons. With the technical advancement and the development of environment protection, wind power generation may commercially compete with coal fuel power generation.
                  During the 10th Five Year Planning Period, the wind power generation accessed to the electricity grid in China developed quickly. In 2006, the accumulative total installed capacity hit 2.60×106 KW, and China has become a major wind power market in the world after Europe, the US and India. Since 2007, the industrial scale of wind power has undergone leaped development. In 2008, the newly added installed capacity of wind power in China was 7.1902×106 KW with a year to year growth rate of 108.4%; the accumulative total installed capacity reached 1.32422×107 KW. Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang, Liaoning, Shandong and Guangdong etc. are rich with wind resources and the wind power industry develops rapidly in these places.
                  Since the second half of 2008, as affected by the international situation in macro sense, the economic development in China has become slower. For the purpose to drive the domestic demand and maintain the quick and steady economic and social progress, the government has enhanced the investment in fixed assets in terms of traffic and energy fields; the development of renewable energy is also supported and encouraged. As a kind of energy saving and environmentally friendly energy, the wind power meets a development opportunity of historic significance; it is quickly developed against the adverse environment brought about by the serious financial crisis. As of the beginning of 2009, 25 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions possessed installed capacities for wind power.
                  The development prospect of the new energy such as wind energy is quite promising in China and it is expected that in a long period ahead, high speed growth will be maintained for this industry; meanwhile, the profitability will also rise following the gradual mature of technology. As a result of localization of the installed capacity and large scaled power generation, the wind power cost may be further lowered. Therefore, wind power has started to draw the attention of more and more investors. Wind farm construction, grid power generation and equipment manufacture for wind power etc. have all become hot places for pouring investment and the market prospect is bright. In 2009, the high speed growth of total profit of the wind power industry will be maintained and, it is expected that in 2010 and 2011, the growth speed will be dropped yet the growth rate may still be maintained at above 60%. By 2010, the accumulative total installed capacity nationwide will exceed 2×104 KW, which is the target planned for the year of 2020.
